Lena Thiemann is a Berlin based cinematographer and

filmmaker, guided by empathy, curiosity and a natural sensitivity

for people and moments. She approaches each project with care

and attention, looking for images that feel true to the story and its

emotional core. Her work often focuses on subtle human

connections, moments that carry depth and meaning.

 

Lena shot the short film As if Mother cried that night, which

premiered at the Locarno Film Festival 2023 and was later

nominated for the German Short Film Award 2024, screening

at several international festivals.

 

Lena is currently studying Cinematography at the German Film

and Television Academy Berlin (DFFB) as a scholarship

holder of the German National Academic Foundation

(Studienstiftung des Deutschen Volkes). Before that, she

trained as a media designer in image and sound at

Südwestrundfunk (SWR), graduating top of her class in 2017.
